MARCH 28, 2022

'Greening' your church, synagogue, and other places of worship may seem like a daunting task. You may have other buildings in need of renovations, heating/cooling system updates, or you may have been approached by your municipality about stormwater runoff. Your congregation is hesitant to adopt sustainable practices or doesn't know how to do it, and your younger members are demanding it. You've heard about Pope Francis's encyclical Laudato Si' - On Care for Our Common Home - and believe it might help but does it relate to your situation and your faith tradition?

The St. Francis Retreat House in Easton, PA is offering a mini-retreat "Why Laudato Si? Why Should We Care?" which will help address all of the above. Fr. Kevin Nadolski, OSFS, from DeSales University will speak about the sustainability efforts happening at DeSales and address the importance of the Laudato Si' encyclical. Marie North, Laudato Si' Animator and Certified Sustainable Building Advisor will offer practical tips, suggestions, and opportunities to "green" your facilities, places of worship, and congregant's homes. This mini-retreat will help parishes begin to implement Pope Francis's Laudato Si' Action Platform.
